Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Fighters Group

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences growing in power within the city.

Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of heroes who will split off from the central cast to begin their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table includes Teor (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.

Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the actions of the third episode show why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

First, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose death started the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.

The traitor then cleared his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a nasty place.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could assist the group enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that control the setting for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The healer turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the clan.

This means them little choice but to travel to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the latest episode’s follow-up content, we discover that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Explorers and Strategists tables.

Fans can anticipate finding out which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
