A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has endured a challenging year, managing just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in particular - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court since March of the previous year.

The win also signifies the Russian has won 21 championships at 21 various competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my children together, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," commented ranked player the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

His retrieving strategy and regular outbursts on the playing surface had caused some to question if his ability to perform at the elite level was over.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform assertively, supported by an improved serve.

He fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five games to take the lead.

The competitors swapped break points in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

Moutet saved 4 early opportunities in a tight deciding set before Medvedev broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, he clinched the title with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
