A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

The assault caused the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests come after a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was among the injured in the event. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment and were later released.

Police detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding a number of individuals injured by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The attack - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
